Answering Obama's Call to Service

The Blue Goose Fruit Shed was filled to capacity for the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner. This years theme, "Community Service: A Call to Action," resounded throughout the celebration. Informational tables sponsored by several local groups were open to inform about volunteer opportunities available in the community. A food drive netted almost three bins of canned and dried goods that were donated to the Placer County Food Bank for distribution to other county food closets. Two very special members of our community were honored for their commitment to community service; Lt. Colonel Charlie Brown, CD4 Democratic candidate for Congress in 2006 and 2008; and Roseville Mayor, Gina Garbolino who received our 2009 Community Service Award for her long and very distinguished career in service to our community. Keynote Speaker, Gavin Newsom, is also committed to Community Service as the Mayor of San Francisco, and has taken a stand on issues, at times controversial, that affect us all. Mayor Newsom is exploring the possibility of a run for Governor of the State of California in 2010.

AD-4 Democratic Council Holds First Meeting

Valerie Hromatka, PCDCC Secretary, accompanied by her son Nick, delivered your donations for the Gathering Inn collected after the March Central Committee meeting.

On Tuesday, January 20, 2009 Democrats from all over Placer County gathered to celebrate the Inauguration of Barack Obama.  Hosted by Andy and Shana Laursen at their property on the Bear River in North Auburn, the 300 or so celebrants shared wine, ale, hors d'oeuvres, live music by Scott Johnson's Celtic Band and listened to President Obama's Historic Inauguration Speech on two big screen T.V.'s. 

The Placer County Young Democrats held their first meeting on January 5th of this year. They are inviting all Democrats ages 14 - 35, to join in their community activism.
