| PLACER COUNTY DEMOCRATS WILL ELECT NEW |
|
CENTRAL COMMITTEE AT MID TERM ELECTION
|

Every two years at the mid-term election in June, The Placer County Democratic Party (PCDP) elects a full slate of members to it's Central Committee. The twenty -one elected members represent each of the five Placer County Supervisorial Districts as follows:
| Supervisorial District 1 = |
4 |
| Supervisorial District 2 = |
5 |
| Supervisorial District 3 = |
4 |
| Supervisorial District 4 = |
4 |
| Supervisorial District 5 = |
4 |
|
In addition to these 21 elected members, each of the nine local Democratic Clubs appoints a representative to the Central Committee, and there are four ex-officio members, candidates who have run for office through the Placer County Elections Commission, thirty-three members in all. The Placer County Democratic Central Committee (PCDCC) meets once a month to govern the activities of the local party. Voter registration, candidate vetting, Democratic Club building and chartering, monitoring and participating in State party issues and fundraising are among the activities. Its's a great way to get involved in Grass Roots Democratic ideals.
If you are interested in becoming part of this effort to grow the Placer County Democratic Party and get more people involved in the "Electorate Process," it's time to consider a run for a position on the PCDCC. Potential candidates must be a resident of the Supervisorial District they wish to represent. (See map) To run for office, cadidates should go to the Placer County Elections Division located at 2956 Richardson Drive, Auburn, CA 95604. Phone number (530) 886-5650. The Elections Office is on the first floor of the Placer County Finance & Administration Building. Offie hours are posted on the website. The filing period begins on February 16, and the deadline to submit papers is March 12, 2010.
All potential candidates need to "pull papers." Beginning February 16, elections office personnel will take you through the process of filling out forms and will provide you with an election packet that will include a petition to be signed by twenty Placer County registered Democrats. All petition signatures are verified. It is recommended that you get at least twenty-five in case there is an issue with one of your signatures, and to start early to meet that March12 deadline. The Elections Division personnel can provide you with a precinct list of names of registered Democrats in your neighborhood for a small fee. (See the Campaign Resources page for additional information.)
When the signatures are approved, you become an official candidate. Weather your name will appear on the ballot is determined by the number of people who run for Democratic Central Committee in your Supervisorial area. If one more candidate than the number of seats in the district signs up, your name will appear on the Democratic version of the ballot in your Sup District. In other words, in Sup District 4 there are four seats available. If five or more people file as candidates, their names appear on the ballot and the top four vote getters are seated. If four or less people sign up for the seats in District 4, those four names will not appear on the ballot, but those candidates will be seated and take the oath of office to serve. There is no dollar cost related to pulling papers. All you need is a commitment to get involved and a desire to serve the community we all live in. This is your opportunity to make a difference.
